Overview
Griffan Randall, D. O., is the owner and operator of Dr. Griffan Randall, D. O., PLLC, a private psychiatric outpatient practice specializing in the evaluation and treatment of adolescent through geriatric patients. Dr. Randall is a diplomate of and is Board Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She received her undergraduate degree from Mount Holyoke College (So. Hadley, MA) and her medical degree from New York College of Osteopathic Medicine (Old Westbury, NY). Dr. Randall completed her four- year Psychiatry residency at The Institute of Living (Hartford, CT) where she served as President of the Residency Council for two years and also moonlighted, working additional clinical shifts, at the 200+ bed inpatient psychiatric unit of the Institute of Living. During her final year of residency Dr. Randall was awarded the Joelle Pauporte Award, conferred on the outstanding graduating psychiatry resident as voted by her peers.
Dr. Randall is committed to promoting health care through improved Doctor-Patient communication utilizing language (English (fluent), Spanish (fluent), French (proficient)) and humor. She was awarded the Abby Howe Turner Award for her senior college research thesis which compared laughter’s physiological benefits to mild, moderate, and extreme exercise. And for her final Grand Rounds at the Institute of Living presented “In Defense of Humor” where she hypothesized that humor can in fact be a conscious, not solely an unconscious, process which was supported by neurobiological findings, the history of psychological defenses, and the etymology of the word “humor”.
Dr. Randall has developed and taught several wellness courses including “Fear of Flying” at The Albany International Airport and has participated in various Wellness panels at Emma Willard School and Skidmore College. She has been interviewed by the media on issues including suicide prevention and the loneliness epidemic and served as a psychiatric expert for an episode on Investigation Discovery.
Dr. Randall provides TMS therapy services at Clearwave’s Latham office.
