Clearwave Mental Health is thrilled to introduce the newest member of our team, Dr. Mehreen Ahmed, D.O. As a cornerstone of our new Hauppauge practice, Dr. Ahmed brings a wealth of experience, a compassionate approach to patient care, and a commitment to innovative mental health treatments.
A proud Brooklyn native, Dr. Ahmed’s journey into medicine was driven by a desire to help others navigate their mental health challenges. Her path led her to earn a medical degree from Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine in Harlem, followed by residency training at Saint Clare’s and Saint Mary’s Hospitals in New Jersey. Her dedication and leadership qualities were evident early on as she served as one of her program’s Chief Residents.
A Passion for Personalized Care
Dr. Ahmed specializes in general adult psychiatry, focusing on a broad spectrum of conditions including mood disorders, anxiety, trauma, and ADHD. Having worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings, she developed a particular passion for outpatient care. She deeply values the opportunity it provides to build strong, long-term therapeutic relationships with her patients, which she believes is fundamental to successful treatment and lasting wellness.
Her approach is warm, collaborative, and always centered on the individual. Dr. Ahmed takes the time to understand each patient’s unique circumstances, working with them to create personalized treatment plans that align with their specific needs and goals. This emphasis on empathy and accessibility ensures that every person she treats feels heard, respected, and empowered on their journey to well-being.

Throughout her career, Dr. Ahmed has been dedicated to advancing evidence-based care. During her residency, she played a pivotal role in establishing her program’s Spravato treatment program, showcasing her commitment to incorporating innovative solutions into her practice.

In addition to expert medication management, Dr. Ahmed is a certified provider of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), a cutting-edge, non-invasive treatment for depression and other conditions.
